There’s nothing better than working for a great people manager. Great people managers make it look effortless. But it’s not. People management is a skill that is learned, and develops like any other skill – through a constant loop of practice, feedback, learning and experimenting.
And yet, too often managers are left to figure it out on their own, often learning by modelling the (sometimes good, sometimes bad) behaviours of their own managers.
At OLX Group we strive to be a company where people management is a strength. To do so, we know we must teach our managers to become great. The People Management Essentials program is our way to invest in our company and our people managers. We aim to help managers discover and celebrate what they are already good at, and identify hot spots for areas for development – while steering them to resources and training where they can drive their own development.
Everyone wants to work for a great manager. But, not everyone knows how to become one. We hope this is a start.
